We have been involved in residential and mining contamination studies and as soil specialists understand the movement of contaminants through the soil. We have the expertise to conduct risk assessments of contaminated soil. The National Environmental Management: Waste Act of 2008 recognises the status and risks associated with contamination and provides a legal mechanism for remediation. A National Framework for the Management of Contaminated Land (DEA, 2010) for the implementation of Section 7 (2) (d) of the Waste Act (2008) provides procedure for the implementation of remediation, while the national norms and standards (DEA, 2014) was used as reference values.
